You may want to study pictures
of the original Hitty before you begin carving, and keep them
on hand for reference as you work. Create
a carving blank from a pattern (or this
pattern ), or purchase a wooden Hitty carving blank from one
of many sources. Hitty Coal is carved from basswood. Using the pictures
in the collage pages at left, carve Hitty's body, arms, legs, hair,
etc, until she is ready for face carving. This tutorial will focus
on carving Hitty's face. |
