Anne's Roombox
by Special Corespondent, Anne DeGroat

For this project you will need:
1 cardboard
box |
Tacky Glue |
Before you begin, gather up things you might want to use, as well as the supplies listed. Some suggestions for finishing the room box are: bottle caps for lamps, furniture, scraps of fabric, and so forth. |
Do the outside of the box first. I used a fabric that was stones. First measure the box, and then measure the cloth to fit. Use lots of glue. Use the wide paintbrush to spread the glue. Overlap at the corners so no box shows. Overlap at the bottom to look smooth. |
| If the sides of the box do not meet, you have to cut extra cardboard and glue it in. There was a strip down the side that needed to be filled in with mine. |
| Measure carefully for the floor. Cut your paper to fit, and don't use any glue until it all fits perfectly. Then add the glue, and spread with the paintbrush. Make sure it goes in the corners. With the dry rag, lightly push down and move around the floor until it seems flat. No bubbles. |
Do the side walls next, with the same method you did the floor. Then do the back wall.
Do the ceiling last. I flipped the paper so the grid on the back showed, and looked like tiles. |
For the window, make sure that your postcard will fit inside the frame. If not, cut it. Then figure out where you want to have the window and glue the postcard there. Next, take the wooden frame and glue it around the postcard. You can leave the glass in. |
| Decorate the room box any way you want. I made the lamp out of bottle caps, a piece of scrap wood covered with left-over wall paper from the roombox, little spools on a dowel, pipecleaners, and fake fur. The chair and footstool are blow-up Barbie furniture from the Dollar Store. The posters are magazine cut-outs. |
