The Big Hanky Issue!

From the desk of Charlotte Hitty...

Welcome to our hankies, hankies, hankies issue! We have a lot of uses for these soft vintage delights, and we are all very pleased to be able to share them with you. If you have always wanted to use a vintage hankies as a travel wrap, be sure to see the correct way to fold your Hitty into her soft, protective cover. Or perhaps you would enjoy using the vintage hankies as a sheet for her bed. Learn how to choose the correct size, and the importance of pattern placement on the hankie.

We're especially proud to introduce Great-Aunt Teddie's latest brainstorm: Special Term Students at the Ash Grove Academy. We have one student currently enrolled in a Music program, with three additional students on their way right now.

Enjoy!--Charlotte Hitty, Co-Editor

Sewing with Hankies

From the desk of Hitty Henrietta…

Vintage and antique hankies are becoming more and more popular with crafters and artists these days, and many Hittys and their families have found that a vintage handkerchief can be Hitty's best friend, due to fairly easy availability of hankies and the fine fabrics and laces that many old hankies are made of. Not to mention the beautiful handwork or printed floral patterns that make many of these old hankies works of art in and of themselves!

Here in Colorado all the dolls in our Cole Hitty family LOVE to make their clothing from hankies. Not only that, but we use hankies for curtains, travel wraps, and linens. Of course, sewing with hankies is not always easy, which is why we've put together this issue!

I hope you will enjoy our decorating ideas, sewing tips, patterns, and projects gleaned from our trial and error with hankies, as well as our guide to finding, selecting, and buying Hankies. I think you'll find everything you need in this issue to get you started with Hankies for your Hittys! Soon you will be making beautiful clothes and accessories and decorating your Hitty's world with these fine vintage linens.

Come again! Hitty Henrietta, Co-Editor
